The purpose of the Sun n Fun Survey was to get a better insight into people's viewpoints on the pilot shortage and if there are any strong feelings about the student pilot drop-out rate. Furthermore, to measure the understanding pilots have about the importance of misunderstood words.

2. If an instructor - What would you say is the biggest challenge you face in providing instruction today?   
3. What are your thoughts about the pilot shortage?   
4. What do you think will happen if it gets worse?   
5. What are some of the things you think can be done about improving the pilot shortage situation?   
6. Are you aware of the efforts on the part  of others to help improve things? If so - who? What is being done?   
7. Do you know what the drop-out rate is for people who start flight training?   
8. What do you think the reasons are for people dropping out?   
9. What do you think is the most important  thing that can be done to improve training and results?   
10. Have you ever read to the end of a page and found yourself blank - unable to remember what you just read?   
11. Any thoughts on why the above happens?   
12. How real is this statement or concept to you? "The only reason a person fails or becomes unable to learn, is   because he or she has gone past words they don’t understand."   
13. Do you think that reading a page with a bunch of words you don’t understand may be related to why you go blank?   
14. What is the definition of the word Empennage?   
15. The word Empennage comes from the word Pen – which is French for feather. And empennage means “putting feathers on   the back of an arrow.” Imagine how an arrow would tumble if it did not have feathers on the back. Imagine for a moment, that we had a video that showed all of this and the full conceptual understanding it would provide. Imagine we did the same for words like fuselage, chord, aileron, manifold – on and on. If we produced a Words for Pilots Video Dictionary – that’s available  free online – who do you think should sponsor such an endeavor?   
16. Do you know of anyone else in the  aviation industry that might be interested in this pilot shortage and effective solutions to handle it? 

The takeaway from the data was excellent and will greatly impact future workshops on the subject of study and pilot training. Thanks to all those very willing participants for doing the survey.
